CHAPTER HIGHLIGHTS APPEARING IN STRUCTURAL BUILDING COMPONENTS MAGAZINE:
April 2006
The Inland Empire Chapter held its winter meeting on February 9 in Post Falls, ID. On the agenda was a review of the chapter bylaws as well as officer elections. Phil Adams of Northwest Building Components was elected as Chapter President, Steve Parham of Coeur D’Alene Builders Supply as Vice President, Dale Abrams of Lumbermen’s Building Centers as Secretary and Rudy Pierce of MiTek as Treasurer. Discussed at the chapter meeting was the presentation the next day
at the Idaho Association of Building Officials (IDABO) Conference in Boise. Following the successful September presentation to building officials in Kootenai County, this event promised to be equally well received. Delivered by WTCA staff member Rachel Smith, the presentation included three Truss Technology Workshop (TTW) courses: How to Read a Truss Design Drawing, How to Read a Truss Placement Diagram and Truss Inspection Checklist. Additional educational presentations will be planned for the future. The next chapter meeting date was scheduled for June 1.
November 2005
The Inland Empire Chapter held its first meeting of the year on September 20 in Post Falls, ID. All in attendance agreed it had been too long since their last chapter meeting and there was much work that the chapter could accomplish. In addition to discussing future projects and goals, the members prepared for an educational program for Kootenai County building officials the following day. A resounding success, this educational program promised to be the beginning of an ongoing series in Kootenai and surrounding areas. In other news, the chapter is planning to schedule its 2006 meetings in conjunction with the Northwest Chapter meeting dates.
