Please join us for the next month’s Missouri Chapter Meeting on Thursday, March 10 at 1:00-2:00 pm via SBC Connection.

On the Agenda:

The chapter will discuss current marketplace issues, educational programs with Johnson and Douglas Counties. Additionally, a report on Ceiling-Floor Partition Separation Truss Arching, Truss Rise, Truss Uplift from at Norton & Schmidt and the SBCA Truss Technology in Building document on Partition Separation Prevention will be discussed.

Luke Wiesen, Millard Lumber will also provide input on the elements necessary for Making a Professional Binder to be used on each job for the installer and the inspector.

Framing the American Dream Project:

With the generous support of its chapters and members, SBCA conducted a new Framing the American Dream (FAD) study in 2015 by building two nearly identical houses side-by-side. The only difference between the two homes was one was conventionally stick-framed and the other was framed entirely of structural building components.

After the two homes were fully framed and dried-in, thousands of images taken by wireless jobsite cameras were analyzed to determine the man-hours it took to complete each discreet framing task and how much waste was generated in the process.  In addition, lumberyard invoices and component design layouts were reviewed to arrive at an apples-to-apples comparison of the material used to frame each home.

Sean Shields of SBCA will give us a behind the scenes look at the data collected, share the FAD marketing strategy, and get our input on how to tailor the outreach materials for our specific markets.

Please join us for this informative and valuable discussion.
