SBCA - New York Chapter Meeting

Date:
Thu, Apr 21 2016 9:00am to 10:30am (CDT)

Please join us for the next New York Chapter Meeting on Thursday, April 21 at 10:00 – 11:30 am via SBC Connection.

With the generous support of its chapters and members, SBCA conducted a new Framing the American Dream (FAD) study in 2015 by building two nearly identical houses side-by-side. The only difference between the two homes was one was conventionally stick-framed and the other was framed entirely of structural building components.

After the two homes were fully framed and dried-in, thousands of images taken by wireless jobsite cameras were analyzed to determine the man-hours it took to complete each discreet framing task and how much waste was generated in the process.  In addition, lumberyard invoices and component design layouts were reviewed to arrive at an apples-to-apples comparison of the material used to frame each home.

With the FAD data analysis complete, SBCA is rolling out marketing materials, videos and website tools to help component manufacturers (CM) get the word out to homebuilders, specifiers, architects and framers on the significant advantages of component framing over stick-framing.

At our upcoming chapter meeting, Sean Shields of SBCA will give us a behind the scenes look at the data collected, share the FAD marketing strategy, and get our input on how to tailor the outreach materials for our specific markets. Please join us for this informative and valuable discussion.
