Iowa Truss Manufacturers Association Meeting

Date:
Wed, Nov 16 2016 10:00am to Thu, Nov 17 2016 11:45am (CST)

Please join us for the next Iowa Chapter Meeting on Wednesday, November 16 from 10 am-12 pm via SBC Connection.

The chapter will discuss current marketplace issues, educational programs and the February 2017 legislative breakfast. Additionally, we’ll discuss the best practices for design and installation including educational materials for component manufacturers (CM) to use in sharing the latest research, step-by-step installation instructions and design tools to the market.

Framing the American Dream Project:
With the generous support of its chapters and members, SBCA conducted a new Framing the American Dream (FAD) study in 2015 by building two nearly identical houses side-by-side. The only difference between the two homes was one was conventionally stick-framed and the other was framed entirely of structural building components.

After the two homes were fully framed and dried-in, thousands of images taken by wireless jobsite cameras were analyzed to determine the man-hours it took to complete each discreet framing task and how much waste was generated in the process.  In addition, lumberyard invoices and component design layouts were reviewed to arrive at an apples-to-apples comparison of the material used to frame each home.

Sean Shields of SBCA will give us a behind the scenes look at the data collected, share the FAD marketing strategy, and review all the materials that have been produced to date to help CMs grow market share.

Please join us for this informative and valuable discussion and reply to this email by Tuesday, November 15 and let us know if you will attend the Iowa Chapter Meeting. We’ll forward the GoToMeeting Link information when you sign up for the meeting.
