The town of Whitefish is a ski town turned four season tourist mecca. It is near Whitefish Lake which offers boating during warmer months and some fishing opportunities (river/fly fishing is much more popular in the area). It has gorgeous views in all directions The downtown offers higher end shopping as well as many bars and restaurants.
Whitefish is one of the closest mountain towns to a major airport. Once you arrive at Glacier Park International airport [11] from convenient hubs you're only 15 minutes from town. Amtrak's Empire Builder [12]® arrives twice-daily at the historic Whitefish train depot. Arriving by car [13] is also easy — with roads that wind through some of the most beautiful landscapes in North America.
Glacier National Park [14]: Hiking, Camping, Biking, Boating, Going to the Sun Highway, Wildlife (bears, mountain goats, big horn sheep, elk, deer, moose, bald eagles, fox, etc.)

Nearby:
Kalispell [38]: Regional hub, majority of shopping (Costco, Target, Walmart, etc) takes place here. The airport is between Whitefish/Kalispell and Columbia Falls. Hotel rates will likely be cheaper here than in Whitefish if you extend your stay beyond the meeting, but the outdoor activities will be a bit of a drive.
Columbia Falls [39]: An old logging town, this is the industrial area of the Flathead Valley. There are some timeshares and a golf course nearby, but it is not the best choice for accommodations. It is on the way to Glacier and is the best place to fuel before Glacier National Park.
West Glacier [40]: On the border to Glacier National Park, this small town has a lot of tourist shops and a few restaurants, but not a lot of other amenities.
Big Fork [41]: On the north side of Flathead Lake, this small town aslo has a lot of tourist activities and shopping. It is most noted for its 4th of July Celebration, but is fun during other times in the spring and summer. Flathead Lake is primarily a boating lake ringed with lake houses that provides gorgeous views in all directions.
East Glacier [42]: Another small town on the east side of Glacier National Park, this one borders the Blackfeet Nation Indian Reservation.
Browning [43]: The main city for the Blackfeet Reservation, it has a couple of good museums for those interested in Native American history, but does not have muchin the way of lodging or dining accomodations.
Polson [44]: A beautiful small town on the southern portion of Flathead Lake, it too borders an Indian Reservation but includes a lot of overnight options.
